HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 132

Recognizing the Entrepreneurial Education Region of Virginia with appropriate postings of the entrances to the region along Interstate Routes 77 and 81, and U.S. Routes 52, 58, 100, and 221 by the relevant localities comprising the region. Report.

WHEREAS, in order to create a new platform from which to internally and externally market the region to those who wish to invest, create employment, and take advantage of the region's entrepreneurial spirit and institutions of education, the community, economic, and educational organizations of the Counties of Carroll, Bland, Grayson, Smyth, and Wythe and the City of Galax have collaborated to create the Crossroads Institute and the Entrepreneurial Education Region of Virginia; and WHEREAS, entrepreneurial education is recognized as a valid form of economic development, capturing the energy, imagination, and passion of the citizens of the Entrepreneurial Region of Virginia; and WHEREAS, the Crossroads Institute, a rural entrepreneurial education initiative located in Galax and serving Virginia with more than 60,000 square feet of space, is dedicated to entrepreneurial education and business development; and WHEREAS, 80 percent of new jobs being created are in the area of small business and entrepreneurship; and WHEREAS, the noteworthy efforts of the aforementioned localities and the visionary leadership of the citizens of the region to achieve regional cooperation and the promotion of community, economic, and educational development that facilitated the creation of the Entrepreneurial Education Region of Virginia are lauded; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Entrepreneurial Education Region of Virginia be recognized with appropriate postings of the entrances to the region along Interstate Routes 77 and 81, and U.S. Routes 52, 58, 100, and 221 by the relevant localities comprising the region; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the relevant localities comprising the region, with the approval of the Virginia Department of Transportation, may post and maintain signs bearing the legend "Entering Virginia's Entrepreneurial Region" at the entrances to the Entrepreneurial Education Region along Interstate Routes 77 and 81, and U.S. Routes 52, 58, 100, and 221 to signify and recognize the Virginia Entrepreneurial Education Region.
