Squealers BBQ
While covering the inaugural Smoke on the Mountain barbecue contest for the Carroll News in 2004, Mark Davis became fascinated with the process of making authentic barbecue. After his initial attempts at making barbecue proved highly successful, Davis decided to dedicate himself full-time to the food business. With the help of Dallas Garrett and Sandy West at the Blue Ridge Crossroads SBDC, he secured the funding to open three very successful businesses. The most recent, a restaurant on East Stuart Drive in Galax, opened in September 2010 to great reviews. At present the three Squealers businesses employ 29 local residents.
