Generate-Accelerate-Elevate-Activate
The Blue Ridge Crossroads Small Business Development Center, the Blue Ridge Crossroads Economic Development Authority, and Grayson County are pleased to announce an entrepreneurial contest coming in the Fall of 2015. The Mount Rogers Business Challenge is a competitive process to create new ventures or expand existing businesses. Investment grants and incentives totaling more than $20,000 will be awarded to entrepreneurial ventures focusing on recreational tourism, arts and cultural tourism, or restaurants and retail in Grayson County. Participants will attend entrepreneurial-focused classes consisting of business training, networking, and a pitch night. Applications are due September 16th with classes beginning the week of September 28th (Time and location to be determined).
The business challenge is made possible through the generosity of multiple organizations. The Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development invested $10,000 through a grant to the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission. The Grayson County Board of Supervisors and the Economic Development Authority are enhancing this exciting project by enthusiastically putting forth an additional $10,000 to match the VTC and DHCD program dollars in accordance with the county’s identified strategic economic development initiative to bolster and support small businesses and entrepreneurial development. Their investment expands the challenge area from the designated Mount Rogers Recreational Area to all of Grayson County.
